Week 10, Blog 4: Brainstorm of a Course Description

I was feeling weird, and decided to write up a mini-syllabus type thing as the course description.

English (Insert Totally Abstract School-Specific Number Here): Practical Applications of Composition
Professor: Some Hot-Shot PHD Guy (or gal, we don't discriminate)
TA who will actually be doing everything: Paul Fimbres
Fall 2014

Welcome to Hell! Or, alternatively, Welcome to the easiest class you will ever take! Both are entirely possible, it really just depends on your point of view. This class will not push you at all. In fact, feel free to simply turn in three essays worth of something vaguely coherent at the end of the semester, and I'll give you a C+, no questions asked.

As for the rest of you, this course is not modeled on the traditional academic structure that you're used to. Grades will not be discussed at all during the year. Instead, the focus will be on a rigorous series of reading and writing assignments, each designed to expand the limits of your production and output capabilities. It is not expected, nor is it even possible, for you to finish all the work involved, especially not to any impressive degree of quality. You are used to being coddled. You are used to bizarre abstractions and games. Here, you will learn to simply push yourself and discover the level of output you are truly capable of.
